FAQ

So, heres the FAQ. It's in no particular order. If you need more info, just mail us!

Where are you?

You can check the “events” link located at the top of the navigation bar on the website. Look for an * next to an event. That means we will be there. Our plans change frequently, so make sure to re-check closer to the event you’re thinking of attending. You can always call or e-mail as well.(509)675-6721, becca@thepinkbus.com

Can I buy beads or jewelry from you online?

We're in the process of working that out. In the meantime old fashioned communication works best: e-mail, phone etc. . .or go to the links page to visit Magpie gemstones.

How do I buy more of something I purchased from you at an event?

Call with a description and we’ll do our best. All of our business is generally done in person.

Where do you get your stuff?

From small family businesses, individuals, dig it up ourselves, or make it. No catalogs. Everything we carry has a  direct connection to a person or family we personally deal with.

What
is the music playing in the background?

Scroll to the bottom of the pages- the artist is listed in small white letters.

How long did it take you to convert your bus?

Ha ha ha. Converting a bus is never really done. It’s sort of an ongoing project. If two to three people hit it hard. . .maybe a weeks full time work. Assuming you have all the supplies already. Keep in mind there are many levels of conversion possible. Partially gutted out with a campstove to a rolling mansions. Check out rollinghomes.com for more info.

How did you get started on your adventure?

Long story short- looking for an alternative. Not accepting options that went against what we felt was a natural and inspiring way to live. It involved driving a ’66 chevy pick-up to Mexico, catching it on fire, discovering a secret hot spring, driving over a deserted mountaintop, spending our life savings. . .and re-discovering how good it feels to be alive.

Who are you?

We are a family of four, usually. At times we caravan with a group of close friends, the circus, or other fun folks. We work as wholesalers, vendors and/event consultants. We also have a small production company that provides ambiance, security, etc to events and festivals.

What are the tubes on the side of the bus?

They hold the  poles that are used to set up our vending booth.

“Ok guys....You're completely inspiring. I need to pick your beautiful pink
brains. My husband and I have been talking about doing what you're doing for years.
He would do it in a second. I'm the one with the hesitation. Have you run across
many people doing what you are doing with kids? If so, what kind of education and
stability to you think they're receiving on the road.
-Landlocked on Long Beach Island - Many thanks and enjoy the journey...Jennifer”

Hi Jennifer,

I'll try to not overload you here :)

Living on the road isn't for everyone. It can be. . .alienating, crude, uncomfortable, strange, and just downright tough. But it is also the biggest, most eye-opening life changing fantastic  family vacation you will ever go on.

Our  life is beautiful. . . magic even. The most important suggestion I offer to people who want to do what we're doing is. . .visualize the end result, not the obstacles. Slowly (or sometimes so fast you get whiplash) everything falls into place. Don't worry or make up "can't" statements. My 72 year old friend says "If you can't, you won't". It's true.

We’ve met several other families traveling with children. It's just like meeting families in houses. Some families do better than others. But when you travel. . .your life opens up to change and experiential growth. Our environment is not stagnant. We became more flexible in our ideas. . .of course there was rough adjustment period(redefining our ideas about what 'stuff' we actually NEEDED)

If the kids want to learn about. . .sharks- go to the aquarium. Our seven year old was interested in Native American History- we went to the natural history museum in Albequerque, NM. Kids can learn about the environment, math, politics, responsibility, science, geography etc, b/c they experience it.There are MANY resources available to parents looking into mobile schooling. From Unschooling to online homeschooling.

Moving into a vehicle is not a permanent decision. Don't worry about what people will think or say. Our families were less than optimistic initially. Now they want to know where all the cool places are to come visit us!

Here's a link to another bus family. Feel free to mail me anytime you have questions, concerns or just need some inspiration!

Under "links" @ thepinkbus.com you'll find "the green bus blog. . ."  She has a beautiful blog about life on the road.

Many thanks for your interest. Have a beautiful day.

Becca
