The Bus
Bus Conversion. . . It's a 1981 international school bus. DT 466 engine (diesel) with an Allison transmission.
It's Pink. Our tank is diesel omnivorous. We run on biodiesel. The best that's available wherever
we happen to be.
The bus does not run on veggie oil for a variety of reasons. We haven't
yet met anyone running on veggie oil that (A) has gone over 100,000 miles in their vehicle (B) uses their vehicle
both as a home and daily driver and (C) has no significant difficulty obtaining good quality oil. . .but we'd really like
to!
We have three solar panels mounted on the top. We have enough energy to function like an average
household. . .I mean. . .the bus has enough energy to run any appliance or mid size power tool. Our household functions normally
too, I guess. Actually. . .for living in a pink school bus we're oddly normal.

The cut down second school bus top is on top of the original bus roof. Mateo is strapping it down for highway travel.

The addition is fastened on with self-tapping screws, caulking stuff and seam tape. Then painted with primer. This step took
two experienced people two days.

The inside of the bus with a hole cut out of the roof. You're looking through to the inside roof of the addition.

Manufacturing and shaping an end piece for the addition. Mateo is using a rubber mallet to form the steel to the body
of the bus. Note the ear protection.
