volume control?
Have you ever met someone who has no volume control? And if it wasn't bad enough to have this like, audible plateau of
hammers beating into your eardrums, this monstrous monotone; the person has no idea what they're talking about. As if volume
will somehow compensate for knowledge, or. . .awareness that other people are in the room.
Yes, I know everybody can be loud and maybe even rude sometimes- but there are those out there who just happen to
be LOUD all the time. You're holding the phone a foot away from your ear, you're backing up into walls when
in person, or god forbid; you're seated across from them inconveniently caught between a wall and a table with nowhere to
run. All you can do is blink between noisy intervals.
As a solution I have gone to encouraging the person to quiet down by gently saying "Shhh, Shhhh." At first I thought
this may be insulting, but have found that this sort usually knows they are loud and appreciates the gentle reminder
that, yes indeed, they do need to share the planet's airspace with other, more sensitive people.

loophole
The trick is to find some way of not becoming a slave to your lifestyle. It's like, obviously there are millions of people
out there who are subject to the daily grind, and it's easy to get pulled under by your own schedule. But to be doing something
you want to do, something fun, something fulfilling- and still find it attractive in 25 years. That is amazing.
People aren't meant to be stuck in these static lifestyles- static families and static jobs. . . neighborhoods.
. .towns. Of all the people we meet and visit, those in the suburbs with some career they feel so mediocre; so revoltingly
luke-warm about, are the most unhappy. So unbelievably faded inside with no sense of purpose or outside reality. Just getting
by in every sense of the expression. Stuck in this straight jacket 'thing' of duty, green lawns and lonely houses.
So (if this is you) find something you love to do, or at least something you don't mind. Quit your lame-ass
job. Live in a tent, camp out on the BLM in Arizona-whatever- and find a way to support yourself doing it. And guess what?
You can even find a way to do this with KIDS!
There really are happy people out there. Doing what they love to do, living without fear. I meet them all the time. It
is possible, it is sustainable. So- before I start to sound like a cliche motivational speaker (whoops, too late) - Happy
Trails.
